Some people are so arrogant and proud
of themselves that they tend to look down on other people. I always
think this kind of people are delusion, sick, unrealistic and plain
stupid. They always think that they are the damn hottest shit on
earth and everybody else needs to bow upon them. It's not even real.
Be it who you are, at the end of the day, you will wake-up from your
bed in the morning and realizes that you are nothing but a piece of
dunk.
This is a case of a 60+ years old proud
man who come to me and demand for a hearing test. During the history
taking session, he keeps telling me like thousands times that he used
to be an engineer in Petronas that it kind of making me nauseated.
Telling me once is more than enough since obviously I did not have
hearing loss and I did actually acknowledge his profession. It is
just that I refused to make his once-upon-a-time career a big deal
because I treat my patients equally in an unbiased way regardless the
statuses, jobs or whomever you are.
While his hearing being tested, he keeps complaining about the interior of the audio booth on how different it
is from the booth he has entered. Lecturing me on how to do hearing
test on him (excuse me, I am an audiologist), complaining on how
uncomfortable the chair is (hello!) and keep talking and talking
during the test even though I did warned him to be quite and
concentrate on the testing like hundreds time! He really did get on
my nerves but the best part has yet to arrive!

It took me a few minutes in the
washroom to calm myself down and put-up my best face before
explaining the results to him. And the session
has come out exactly as I have predicted. I credit myself on this! Making fun of every single
detail I told him, making fun of me and my assistant,
mentioning about his career as an engineer hundreds time again, blabbering
about his off-shore experience and how much he earned previously, how
great he is bla bla bla and................ it continues for about
2-hours.

Be proud of yourself is okay. I can tolerate that. But putting other people down is hurtful no matter
what the reason is. I keep telling myself during the session not to
stoop down to this man level and in this case, I just didn't make any
comments and try to figure out why is he acting that way. Above all,
it is because he think that I am too young to be telling him the
listening strategies he should be practicing from then on. But trust
me, it is not the act of denial since he already knew his hearing
status like decades ago.

p/s: Well now I can really understand
the usefulness of having a blog. I can rant my heart out and
complaint till my brain pops whenever, wherever I met undesirable and
hateful events without having to flood up my Facebook's statuses.
